violence is related to sophisticate imagery -- the reasons that high emotion and high violence are exploited in cinema and popular communication must be related to the marketing aspects of memory and adrenaline. if high adrenaline experience is significantly more memorable -- and pain and sensory experience are the easiest to relate to in the sense that they are tied to one moment of happening -- then the way to create a lasting and, in cinema, successful impression is to portray a sensual experience that happens at a time of raised adrenaline in the viewer.
it may only be marketing in the sense that people are always trying to affect one another, no further motive.
